POSITION TITLE: Survey Instrument Operator

DEPARTMENT: Survey

FLSA: Non-Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY: Intermediate level position in survey department. Position requires ability to manipulate modern survey tools and implements to complete survey and data collection tasks as assigned.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists crew chief in performing miscellaneous level and horizontal surveys using electronic instruments with related appurtenances.

2. Must possess the technical aptitude and experience to operate modern total station, data collection and field calculation computers.

3. Ability to assume the role of the chain/rod person, or accept responsibility to take charge of the crew at the discretion of the party chief and/or supervisor.

4. Must possess physical abilities to traverse embankments and excavations and open terrain to access positions and locations needed in the survey. (Embankments and excavations slope angles range from 50E to 0E). Accessing required points requiring ability to carry full compliment of survey tools, i.e. range pole, stake bag lath, or GPS backpack and receiver.

5. Possess physical capabilities to walk a minimum of two to three (2-3) miles per day, with full compliment of hand tools, inclusive of all weather conditions.

6. Capable of hoisting and maneuvering electronic survey equipment, minimum 50 lbs., as required throughout a normal work day.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs other work related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Knowledgable of tools used in the practice of land surveying, electronic and traditional methods. Must be familiar with the use of GPS equipment, particularly, Trimble 4700 receivers (desirable). 

2. Must possess current 24-hour MSHA ANew Miner@ certificate. Must be able to pass initial company employee testing, including alcohol and drug testing. 

3. Valid state motor vehicle operators license, with ability to be insured by company without probationary status.

 


 

POSITION TITLE: CAD designer; Cad Department Manager

DEPARTMENT: CAD and Graphics

FLSA: Non-Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY: Intermediate to Advanced level position engaged in manipulation of AUTOCAD driven civil engineering software. Responsible for creation of design drawings involving grading and drainage, utilities, roads, streets, and highways. Aides in creation of construction staking data, importation of survey data for design projects and creation of legal land surveying mapping. 40 + hours per week as directed by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Uses cooperate owned graphic and design software for creation of digital products including surveying, civil engineering, and business promotional documents. 

2. Performs office calculations from data reduction to final mapping.


3. Maintains and updates library of standards and procedures used in daily production of graphic products.


4. Responsible for maintaining cooperate software and hardware used in creation of digital products.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs other work related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Knowledgeable in principles associated with civil site design projects.

2. Eight(8) years experience and possession of diploma certifying successful completion of a two (2) year curriculum computer aided drafting technology.

3. Experienced with current release of cooperate selected software. Experienced with Windows NT server network and systems. AutoCad 2008, previous versions of LDD, and current Civil Design 3D.

4. Experienced with 3-D rendering, animation software, preferably 3-D Studio. 
5. Capable of hoisting and maneuvering electronic equipment, minimum 50 pounds, as anticipated during a normal work day.

6. Valid state motor vehicle operators license, with ability to be insured by company without probationary status.

POSITION TITLE: Staff Engineer, Civil, Intermediate to Advanced

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

FLSA: Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY: Intermediate to advanced level position in the engineering department of a civil engineering and surveying company. Must be capable of performing calculation, layout and design, with proper supervision, of engineering projects as assigned, using ACAD design software. Cross-training and strong knowledge in principles and practices of land surveying is required. Familiarity with construction practice, techniques, and methods is required. 90% office, 10% field duty.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs calculations relative to civil engineering in areas of hydraulics, hydrology, transportation, sanitary/environmental engineering.

2. Capable of manipulating Autocad with engineering software programs. LDD, ACAD 2008, Civil Design 3D.

3. Ability to perform field functions, as directed by supervisors, associated with construction engineering. Testing, inspection, and construction supervision. Must be able to technically apply provisions of detailed project specifications.

4. Take directions from senior engineers and management in applying required project functions.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Be familiar with and willing to assist with company survey projects from data collection through calculation and mapping.

2. Perform other work related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering Technology, or similar Must possess E.I. and/or professional license in process.

2. Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills.

3. Natural desire for continuing education and development in order to obtain professional registration.

4. Knowledge or familiarity with Global Positioning Surveying (GPS) is desirable.

6. Capable of hoisting, maneuvering survey and engineering equipment, minimum 50 lbs., as anticipated during a normal working day.
